Round table discussion “Ukraine and Lithuania – a common historical heritage, a common future” united friends

Participants of the Lithuanian National Television Project “National Expedition” visited the Kremenchuk within the framework of their stay in Ukraine and the preliminary agreement between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Marius Janukonis and the Mayor of Kremenchuk Vitaliy Maletskyi.

The “National Expedition” brought together well-known Lithuanian historians, journalists, and media representatives. The project, which has been in operation for the fourth year, was initiated by the National Television and Radio Company of Lithuania. Filmed meterial will be shown on Lithuanian television. They plan to create 28 TV shows about Ukraine.

The command floats along the Dnieper River on the historic ship Vytautas the Great, thus promoting the common history of Lithuania and Ukraine, introducing viewers to Ukrainian culture, natural and historical monuments, and strengthening Lithuanian-Ukrainian relations.

Kremenchuk Invest organized a round table discussion “Ukraine and Lithuania – a common historical heritage, a common future” united famous Lithuanian and Ukrainian historians, scientists, representatives of the city authorities and the media. The event was held on July 3 in the Small Hall # 1 administrative buildings of the Kremenchuk city council.

The main theme of the round table was the preservation of important objects of historical and cultural heritage of both Kremenchuk and the Poltava region and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania through research and their dissemination, raising public awareness about the country’s historical and cultural diversity.

The special interest of the participants in the round table discussion was caused by the speeches of well-known scholars D. Vyrskyi, O. Suprunenko, L. Bulava, who in their speeches outlined historical facts that evidence that the emergence of the city of Kremenchuk may be related to the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and campaigns Grand Duke Vytautas at the end of the 14th century.
